The icon depicts the Holy Martyrs of Batak - the faithful Christians from Batak who testified to their faith through martyrdom in 1876.

In the composition, they are represented in Bulgarian folk costumes, with calm and shining faces, directed upwards to the heavenly source of consolation and eternal life.

Behind them rears the church of "St. Nedelya" in Batak - the sacred place of their sacrifice. The building is depicted with attention to the architectural details, in soft harmonious tones, emphasizing its dignity and historical memory.

Above the scene, in a golden background, is revealed a heavenly vision: Christ the Almighty blesses from on high, and on both sides of Him stand the Holy Virgin and the Holy Great Martyr Nedelya, surrounded by a radiance of sky-blue light, a symbol of the Divine mercy and the eternal glory.

The golden background covers up the entire upper part of the icon - a sign of the presence of eternal glory and God's light, which illuminates the martyrdom of the Batak saints.

Regarding to the composition, the icon combines the earthly and the heavenly: the lower part - the testimony for suffering on the earth, and the upper part - the heavenly glorification and resurrection through the faith in Christ.
