Icon "Saint Archangel Gabriel" from the scene of the "Annunciation" - hand-painted with 24-karat burnished gilding and white gold

The icon of Saint Archangel Gabriel from the scene of the Annunciation is an exquisite work of the Orthodox iconographic tradition, that combines spiritual symbolism and rich artistic decoration.

The icon is painted on board with an elegant oval shape, which is decorated with beautiful wood carving.

The frame around the image is shaped with attention to the detail, and its inner part is gilded with 12-karat water gilding, that reflects the light and creates the impression of radiance around the central image.

The central image is surrounded by a decorative circlet of finely crafted gilded wooden pearls, which give additional depth and grace to the composition. This delicate ornamental element frames the image and emphasizes its spiritual significance.

The icon represents Holy Archangel Gabriel - the heavenly messenger of God's will, in the scene of the Annunciation, inspired by the famous fresco, located at Boyana Church. The figure of the archangel is depicted in motion, as if he is just approaching to the Holy Virgin to announce to her the mystery of the incarnation.

Archangel Gabriel is depicted as a young and bright heavenly messenger, with noble features and expression of spiritual purity. His face is calm and radiant, and his gaze is directed forward and fulfilled with reverence. A halo, made with 24-karat gilding, shines around his head.

He wears richly decorated garments - a chiton and a himation, depicted with fine folds, that emphasize the ease of the movement. The large angel wings behind his back are painted with attention to the detail and symbolize his heavenly nature.

The archangel's right hand, slightly extended forward in a blessing gesture, seems to be pronouncing the words of the heavenly message, and in his left hand he holds a staff - a sign of a divine envoyship.

The style follows the spirit of the famous 13th-century painting in Boyana Church, distinguished by the exceptional plasticity of the figures, lively movement and deep spiritual expressiveness. The face is modeled with subtle chiaroscuro, which gives human warmth and psychological depth - a characteristic feature of Tarnovo Artistic school.

The icon combines the artistic sophistication of Bulgarian Medieval art with masterful iconography and rich decorative decoration.

It carries the message of the good news of the Salvation of humanity.
