Description
Home iconostasis with Saint Nicholas, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Stephen - hand-painted with burnished 24-karat gilding
The small home iconostasis is three-part, made with a central part and two-sided wings.
In the middle is the image of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, presented in hierarchal vestments.
He blesses with his right hand, and in his left hand he holds a closed gospel - a symbol of faith and apostolic teaching. His gaze is kind and profound.
On the left wing is depicted Saint John the Baptist, presented as a strict hermit with long hair and beard, holding a scroll - a symbol of his prophetic mission and preparation for the Lord's way.
On the right wing is the icon of Saint Stephen - the first martyr for the Christian faith, depicted in deacon's vestments.
Thus, the composition unites in one the reverence for the miraculous power of Saint Nicholas, the testimony of martyrdom of Saint Stephen and the spiritual rigor of Saint John the Baptist, creating a prayer and contemplative center in the home.
The rich golden background is particularly impressive, as the halos that are made with pure 24-karat water gilding, which symbolizes the Divine light and heavenly glory. The gold gives depth and radiance to the icons and turns them into an artistic masterpiece.
